Self-defence training for girls and women

Women are at risk of facing dangerous situations in the streets, at work or in public transportation…also within the ‘safety’ of their homes…and this is true of all countries whether developed or undeveloped, rich or poor, industrial or agrarian!

This is primarily due to the fact that women are perceived to be the weaker sex, a notion that unfortunately a lot of women themselves also subscribe to. But one does not have to be physically big or strong to be able to repel an attacker or put a stop to abuse. All that is needed is mental strength and knowledge of a few basic moves to be able to protect oneself.

Therefore, every girl and woman should be aware of the world she is living in and learn some easy moves and strikes for her own safety.

Since 2016, Agragami India has been engaged in the training of school and college girls, as well as professional women, in the skill of self-defence.

.

In our current self-defence project, Agragami India is training 9 selected girls from a senior secondary government school in Noida, a sub-division of Gautam Buddha district in the most populus state of India – Uttar Pradesh – to become trainers in self-defence techniques. Once they have completed training, these girls will go on to train other school girls in the skill of defending themselves when threatened. Over a period of three years, these school girl trainers, and other school girls that Agragami will train to become trainers, will train approximately 7600 girls, helping them to develop the confidence and ability to repel any infringement of their personal space, within or outside their homes.

In this endeavour, Agragami is supported by ALORVIE, a Switzerland based support association for women victims of violence. To know more about ALORVIE, please click on their website link given below:

YOUR workshop in Delhi or Mumbai

Training is imparted to groups of 25 to 40 girls/women in a 3-hour workshop format with practice.  The objective is to make the participants feel more secure by enabling them to face and handle situations that threaten their personal safety. Training methods used stress realistic, instinctive strikes and moves. Fancy, sporty, choreographed techniques that are impossible to execute in real-life situations are not advocated. In real life-situations of danger, stress, fear, tunnel vision and other losses of cognitive processes make it impossible to defend oneself effectively.  Therefore, this training program helps women (re)discover the inner, natural, instinctive ways of defending themselves. These methods used are highly effective.
